How often should I clean my windows?

What most people don’t know  that most windows have a coating that protects the glass from harmful UV rays and helps to insulate your house from cold or warmer temperatures. These coatings can actually make your windows 30% – 50% more energy efficient by keeping the warm air in, in the winter and the cool air in, in the summer.
Dirt and debris on the glass can actual break down this coating faster. This will cause you to have a less productive window and require replacement of your windows sooner rather than later.
Cleaning your windows twice a year is recommended to keep them clean and prolong the life of your windows. Once in the spring, as part of your spring cleaning task list, as with the snow is melting there is a lot more dust and pollen blowing around. And once in the fall to clean them up after a long summer and get the windows ready for winter.
There is also the factor of cleanliness of your windows and if you have kids like me, especially younger ones that love to make a mess a more frequent cleaning might be required.
